Pedigree
'Duke' comes
to Kaliya Siberians from an old friend from my
days in Tucson, Arizona: Kathy Carmichael. We
heard through the mushers grapevine Kathy had
some dogs available and connected. She sent some
pictures of 'Duke' and he was transported to
Alaska by Cindy Gallea who was on her way to
run Iditarod 2009. We really like this boy! He
works like a champ in harness and has the structure
and conformation to be exhibited in the show
ring.
Duke's pedigree is impressive with Karen
Ramstead (North Wapiti) and Karen Yeargain (Tumnatki)
lines. Duke's dam, Tumnatki's Topaz is described
by Karen Yeargin as a 'hard-headed' leader. Duke's
sire, North Wapiti's Sepp, is a double up on
one of Karen's all time great leaders, Super
Grover. We have long been fans of the North Wapiti
Race Team.
This was the 'Duke's' first winter
of moderate training. He has run several sprint
races with us this year and has an impressive
work ethic in harness. Out of harness, and just
hanging out, he is wonderful goof ball. Can't
wait to see what this boy can achieve as he matures.
